I had the pleasure of spending a couple of nights at the newly refurbished Langham Sydney last week and it was simply beautiful. Located walking distance to The Rocks in Sydney, I was excited to experience what Sydney’s newest 5 star hotel has on offer and was really pleased with the results! There has been a complete redevelopment of the lobby, dining areas, guest rooms and ballroom, with design aesthetics hinting sophistication and timeless elegance.
Upon entering the newly renovated Langham Sydney, I was greeted by a fresh and light space of luxurious and rich materials that Langham Hotels are synonymous with. The lobby features a stunning marble floor with a simple art deco-inspired design and a large central reception desk of gold leaf crackled porcelain. Langham have discarded the former staircase which has been removed to flood the surrounding area with natural light and make the hotel more secure for guests.
The 96-room hotel has some of Sydney’s largest guest rooms in Sydney at 49 square metres with both balconies and opening windows (love when you can open windows at hotels), and a 10 min walk to direct access to our Sydney Harbour foreshore. Each spacious guest room feature an eclectic mix of furniture and are bathed in beautiful creme, teal, grey, silver and white tones. Fitted with Langham’s signature Blissful Beds and framed by a sophisticated linen-studded headboard, my night’s sleep was extremely restful. From its central Kent Street address, I enjoyed beautiful harbour side views to the west and parkland views to the east while housed in proximity to some of the city’s most iconic destinations.
Palm Court offers an exclusive afternoon tea experience with Wedgwood (with Langham’s own Wedgwood design of course). We had a wonderful lunch with signature Langham cocktails (The Taipei Martini is recommended!) and the food was fresh, beautifully presented and plentiful. Chef de Cuisine Daniel Rudolph and his team at Kent Street Kitchen deliver a unique and one-of-a-kind contemporary fine dining experience. Breakfast is sensational here with an array of Sydney’s best local breakfast produce on offer.
My morning ‘wake up’ swim in the 20m indoor pool – complete with pale stone columns and a star-dappled sky ceiling and very relaxing jacuzzi, was the best way to start the day and truly is one of Sydney’s most beautiful indoor hotel pools. The existing Day Spa will be transformed into a Chuan Spa soon – a Langham signature which is consistently rated among the best luxury spas in the world.
